What Paul is describing here is a solid relationship, not something that comes and goes depending on free time and life situations. When I considered undistracted devotion and an undivided heart, I think of focus and dedication and intention. We read in 1 Corinthians 7:35: “I am trying to help you and make things easier for you and not make things difficult, but so that you would have undistracted devotion, serving the Lord constantly with an undivided heart” (TPT). Today’s verse speaks of being undistracted. Our smartphones by themselves can cause us to disengage from the task at hand. This wealth of stuff can take our attention away from being present. We have everything available at our fingertips. It’s too easy to become distracted today.
